About

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Mississippi State University. My focus is on health economics, applied microeconomics, and statistical measurement. My interests include how nutrition assistance programs affect human health, how where we live shapes our health outcomes throughout the life cycle, and how we can measure latent traits like food security and health using data-driven statistical models. I have published peer-reviewed articles in leading journals including the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, the Journal of Development Economics, Health Economics, the Southern Economic Journal, and more.

I teach the undergraduate honors section of AEC 2713: Introduction to Food and Resource Economics as well as graduate courses in microeconomic theory, quantitative analysis, and research methods. I have won multiple teaching awards for my teaching at the college and university levels.

I grew up in Birmingham Alabama where I received my undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I then moved to Atlanta Georgia where I earned my Ph.D. in Economics from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University. Some of my hobbies include kayak bass fishing, playing guitar, woodworking, and lifting weights. I also have a Corgi named Waffles!
